Based on my experience...In most cases I agree.

I was raised with very intelligent German Shepherds, but I don’t trust Pit Bulls one bit.

Ditto!

For most of my 88 years, we've had Shepherds, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, and Shepherd-Retriever cross breeds...

My mom had her face ripped open by a German Shepherd when she was a little kid. Turns out the dog had been shot once and the bullet (.22??) was still in the dog. My mom was sitting next to the dog and touched it wrong and it turned and bit her. For years my mom and the other kids would play with the dog with no problems.

But - just one big bite, not an attack. I think if it had been a pit bull the instinct may have taken over and it would have kept attacking. Or - the one bite from a pit bull would have been much worse.

It was out in the country, and the only guy handy with sutures was a veterinarian and he stitched her up on his kitchen table while others held her down.

Meanwhile the dog's owner put the dog down immediately to prevent any further problems.
