But - just one big bite, not an attack. I think if it had been a pit bull the instinct may have taken over and it would have kept attacking. Or - the one bite from a pit bull would have been much worse.
It was out in the country, and the only guy handy with sutures was a veterinarian and he stitched her up on his kitchen table while others held her down.
Meanwhile the dog's owner put the dog down immediately to prevent any further problems.

Both me and Mrs. Alexis growed up there back when it was 85% white people and the Ford Assembly plant on Washington and Rosemead was cranking out T-Birds.
We have fostered and my wife runs a rescue.
We took in a coon hound that was great for a week or so. Very chill, got along with our dogs and the family. She attacked and killed our pomeranian, then in the following couple days set her sights on our female lab/shepherd.
Its not just mastiff.

Passon Blvd, Rivera Elementary...El Rancho High...There was miniature golf place close to Passons and Washington Blvd many moons ago...And CheChez restaurant near Fred C. Nell...I know that area intimately.
My wife nearly died from a dog bit a few years ago.

I had a female German Shepherd that was great with my kids but she was squirrelly around people she didn’t know. We came home from a weekend trip and she was locked in our yard. Neighbor said she bit a friend of theirs thru his jeans. She didn’t like that the guy was talking to the neighbors wife and went around behind him and bit him.
Had to have her in 10 day quarantine for rabies and after that, took her to the vet and had her put down. Vet said it was the smart thing to do as the next bite gets you sued. Talked to the guy’s wife about reimbursing him for any doctor’s visit, shots etc. and told her I was going to put her down. She got pretty upset and my neighbor said they had a couple Chows that had bitten people and did nothing about it. Guess she thought I overreacted.

Certain breeds (pit bulls in particular) should require owners to carry a very large bond or insurance policy, and they should be required to be muzzled with a device that limits their ability to bite when they are not locked up.
There are countless stories with the same exact details: friendly pit bull suddenly and surprisingly becomes aggressive and mains or kills a human (usually a child).
Guy I went to school with died from a puppy bite. Had his spleen taken out years ago and by the time he knew he had an infection from the bite, it was too late.
The problems with those requirements, is they’re owned mostly by minorities, gang members and general low life. So the local governments don’t want to put a hitch in their get-up.
Apparently these cities and towns haven’t noticed people and other dogs for that matter, are being eaten by this particular breed.

We now have two dogs, our older one is a chocolate lab shelter rescue.
Our new dog is a one year old Sheprador, who always wants to be around us, and is a literal chow hound.
They’re both very protective of our son.
The problwith pitts is they don’t come with an off switch. Once they bite, they won’t stop until it’s dead and torn to pieces.
Pit bulls are like “moderates” — they seem to respect you until they try to take you down in the name of civility and wanting to get along with the alpha dogs.

“Newberry, SC - A 45-year old woman is dead after being attacked by her own dog, according to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office. EMS and sheriff’s deputies responded to call on Apple Orchard Lane at about 12:53 pm on April 21. Both agencies said the dog showed “very aggressive behavior” toward them — the dog was dispatched at the scene. Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece identified the woman as Erin Beach and that the dog involved belonged to the victim.
Investigators do not know what provoked the attack. An autopsy has been scheduled for Beach this week, reports WLTX. A necropsy is also scheduled for the dog to identify what, if anything, caused the attack. Beach’s death remains under investigation by the sheriff’s and coroner’s offices. According to Beach’s Facebook page, she owned two dogs up until recently, a Dogo argentino and a pit bull. The Dogo died last September. Beach was “heart broken,” at that time.
Beach’s death occurred on the same day that 59-year old Maria Perez was found dead in her home after being mauled by two family pit bulls in Mission, Texas, and one day after 38-year old Cyrus Talkington was attacked by a dog and died in Wichita, Kansas. The breed of dog involved in Talkington’s death has not been released. Also reported today is a suspected fatal dog attack on the Wind River Indian Reservation on April 10. A dead pit bull was seen at the scene the next day.
Friday Update
A new video released by WLTX states that police had to shoot four bullets into the dog, killing it, because it was so aggressive. Sheriff Lee Foster said that in his 33 years of service, he’s never seen anything like this attack. “We’ve had dog attacks before,” Foster said. “But nothing, ah, nothing of this nature.” After talking to family and friends, Foster said the dog had no history of being aggressive. Unpredictable, explosive aggression in pit bulls, however, is well-identified.” . . .
Shoot the dog; hang the owner.
