30+ years ago I used to really like talking to little kids and engaging in conversations with them and their parents.
Then all this pedo crap became mainstream news and out of respect for the parents I quit talking to them.
Except for a week ago I haven’t bantered with a little kid in decades. Last week it was with a kid who wanted to buy a knife at a yard sale I had. He asked the price and I told him to go get his parents who quickly nixed his quest for the blade.
Re: 41 - It’s tough nowadays. A few years ago, a small child was crying in a store. He was obviously lost. People were walking by. No way I could do that, so asked him where his parents were and he said he did not know. I said well, we’re going to find them, and took him over to Customer Service. BUT, I asked a woman if she would please walk over with me, as this child was really scared - but I also wanted a CYA witness. She kindly walked with me and Customer Service soon used the store intercom to report this child was with them. The parents had been looking for their son in another part of the store, and were darn happy to find him.
I was happy for them, but sad at what our society has turned into such that I had to ask another adult to go with me for a CYA move.
I hope that guy who was a school board member gets the book thrown at him.
