California dad-of-seven 'is dragged into room and beaten by grocery store workers' after he made sarcastic remark about long checkout line

A California father-of-seven says he was beaten-up by grocery store staff after making a sarcastic remark about the length of a checkout line.

John Valencia was filmed scuffling with staff at Stater Brothers in San Bernardino on April 20, but said the violence escalated in a private store closet.

He told Fox13 that the incident began when he went to pick up a coffee, only to be confronted with a long checkout line for a single cash register.

Valencia says he asked a manager to open another, only to be ignored.

When he told the manager 'great customer service,' in what he insists was a non-aggressive manner, he said the staffer asked him to leave.

But Valencia's ordeal escalated into a brutal beating as he walked out, when he said he was dragged into a closet by at least two grocery store workers and beaten.

He recalled: 'Other employees came and I can remember it was like they had me on the ground, and I seen them trying to close the door, and I was trying to kick the door open so they wouldn't close it, and they grabbed my legs and pulled them up.

'Two of them started beating on me, then they started kicking my face and stomping on my back and stomping my head while holding me down.'

Valencia said the beating only stopped when another worker shouted: 'Let him up, let him up.'

It’s California, so it could be illegals.

I have had nothing but kind and courteous service at Kroger stores. But that is in Arizona.

I don't think so. Latinos tend to be passive-aggresive, not violent.

I wonder how true this story is. If so, it's a great law$uit. Store employees, on the clock, on the job site, beat up customer. A slam dunk.

The alleged facts are almost too perfect.

You realize this man is about to be their boss and own that store don’t you? This is one hell of a lawsuit and if the company does not fire them then I sure hope he does as their new boss.

Only one demographic tends to have higher crime rates than Hispanics.

Dittos, I think this is total bunk, makes no sense. Never seen any closets anywhere between check out and the front door.

I’m guessing it was a black female cashier who first ignored this customer, then told him to leave the store after he made a minor wisecrack.

Her Thug co workers saw the customer as somebody “disrespecting” one of their women. Instead of opening another line to serve, they reverted to In Da Hood solutions and beat the hell out of him.

Notice it took a reporter from the Daily Mail in England, to write and submit this story. Interesting, even though they never name the store or give the street location.

About 40 years ago at as 23-year old working for a moving company and waiting with a file cabinet for the one, slow moving elevator for the place. There were two other private parties moving in as well.

We took turns with the heavy pieces on the elevator while others in the crew (and the private folks) used the stairs.

I made some quip to the lady waiting her turn behind me. I don’t recall exactly, but it was pretty harmless. Something like her saying how long the wait for the elevator was, and then I said something like “I know, it’s terrible, and then you’ll have to wait even longer than me!”

I guess she told her husband and he took offense (it was a terrible day for all of us trying to get anything done). Luckily the other guys in my crew caught him in the stairwell and got him to calm down.

You really have to be careful, you never know what might set folks off.

After reading comments, all I know is that the U.S, is becoming a miserable place to live and work in as the third world keeps pouring in, tribalism is setting in with violent consequences, and the melting pot becomes gray gunk.
