Do the air fryers that work without melting down do a good job? Never tried one. I am curious how food “fried” with almost no oil tastes.

Like it's broiled. I've never used it for frying, but it works well as a mini broiler. It's like a smaller version of this gizmo, but with a bottom element:

I’ve cooked chicken wings, steaks, fish fillets, French fries, and a lot of other items in an air fryer and they are the best I’ve ever eaten at home. The key is to warm up the air fryer for five minutes before cooking. Plus the clean up is very easy.
