How is grassfed beef? Noticeably different than grain fed? Are they finished on grain?

Everyone has a different opinion and there are so many different feeds and varieties of cattle it’s difficult to compare. I always stop by family beef farms when traveling and compare. The best beef is definitely not sold in supermarkets and you have to goto the source.

I think grassfed is generally less “greasy” and leaves you with a lighter feeling. I prefer it for ground meat and stews.

For steaks I typically prefer grain fed or grain finished. Delicious but definitely a heavier meal.

Some grassfed steaks can be tough as leather and taste metallic but I’ve had excellent grassfed steaks too. The ribeye from Lidl is one of the best deals for grassfed steak IMO

***How is grass fed beef?***
Wait till you get one that has been grazing on Wild Onions!
Years ago Dad showed us how to overcome the onion flavor. Bite and chew a raw onion before eating the meat.

That is probably why beef is finished out on grain. To get rid of bad flavors.
