New police bodycam footage has been released of the moment three Syracuse police officers apprehended an eight-year-old black boy and force him into the back of a police car.
Earlier this week, video shot by a bystander captured the moment an officer dragged the crying boy, who was accused of stealing a bag of chips, and placed him into the rear of a cruiser.
It appeared to onlookers that the response by police was a complete overreaction - but now new video has emerged from the Syracuse Police Department which shows the young boy being driven back to his parents' home.
The footage also reveals that the youngster wasn't acting alone but with his three brothers, who had been frequenting the Dollar General on Butternut Street on Syracuse's North Side.
The officers also appeared to know the children from previous encounters.
'Some of the video is hard to watch,' Syracuse Police First Deputy Chief Joe Cecile said at the news conference. 'This morning, you saw more video from body cams of what occurred that day, a well-rounded story with a positive outcome.'

American commies are so sad this won’t turn into riots. But they’re trying.
I do pick up things.
I’ve chased people through parking lots trying to return wallets and money.
Sometimes they freak out but what am I supposed to do?
If no one likely is around, I take it into the store and give it to the manager in case the person manages to somehow backtrack and come looking for it.
Sunglasses, car keys, phones, you name it.
People sure do drop a lot of stuff here.
Worse than that, if I see some idiot has left their poor dog in the car, whether it be too hot or the dang windows rolled down enough for the dog to be stolen [happens here...”youths” snatch them for dope money and sell them in parking lots, or worse] I will sit there watching over the dog until the dimwit comes out to their car.
They get a lecture.
I saw one repeat offender who promised me she’d never do that again, at the same store, same parking space, getting read a righteous, loud & scary riot act from a woman less finessed than I.
Haven’t seen her do it again.
I wonder which parts of the videos the media will choose to show...

That doesn’t sound like you actually learned anything...
If they would move to California they could steal 1000 dollars worth of chips and it would be okay.
People don’t obey laws when those laws are optional for some people.
That didn’t happen here. The cops were right, but they will probably be thrown off the force.
Good maybe they will quit stealing before they graduate to car jacking. The father should tan their hides.
democrats...
Just teach the kid to recite “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe” and the cops will back off.
It took me one time to learn based on my respect for my dad.
It took me another time to respect the police. Even though in that instant they didn’t deserve my respect. As I said, the Sheriff chewed out his deputy in front of me due to his inappropriate (and probably illegal) behavior.
