Respectfully, in verse 10 Jesus addressed the crowd (the part about it not being what goes into the mouth that defiles you, it's what goes out of the mouth).

My interpretation of verse 10 and verse 14 together is: don't waste time trying to persuade the leaders, but keep trying to reach their flock to try to teach them not to obey the false teachers.
