From what I have read and heard discounting media spin the split between them was long in the making and both sides bore their share of blame.
Divorce is always ugly and more often than not there are two sides to the story so ultimately none of us know what really happened. For a marriage that was struggling before the patriarch (and son by proxy) jumped into the political cauldron we witnessed it had to be a trial by fire.
We are past the point where we selected candidates based on how many conservative boxes they checked. As we have learned all that means ZERO. ZILCH. ( How many boxes did Mike Pence check ?) There’s only one thing that matters. Is he going to stand with Trump and vote for his agenda , or not.
Well said. We voted for “saints” and it got us nowhere. I think many now see the appeal of a hard-nosed businessman to be the chief executive of the country vs a perfumed deacon in the church. Ironically, there is NO president who put forth a more “Christian” agenda than Trump in my lifetime even as he certainly had flaws in his own life (as do we all).
“Compassionate” or “Christian” conservatism was nothing more than democrat lite.

To vote for Vance in the Primary I’d have to have all his kids secured in a secret location as hostages against his good behavior in the Senate. He’s a Kasich RINO, San Francisco venture capitalist carpetbagger who has no skin in the game when it comes to representing OHIO interests for six years. Got ten million from Peter Thiel to run, and that’s who he’ll be beholden to. I’ll take Mandel, warts and all, thank you.
I fully support the right of everyone in Ohio to choose their own candidate. I have no dog in the fight and have had more than my fair share of disagreements with Trump’s personnel selections.
However, what is most important is winning the seat because our nation cannot afford two more years of the Biden agenda. I guess in that sense I support whomever has the best chance to put an “R” on the seat and relegate Schumer to his whining ways.
You seem too be forgetting that Jim suspended any and all anti-Trump Freepers during the 2016 campaign. He restored them after the election.

He did when it became obvious that Trump was going to win, but prior to that there were some very heated debates and ugly threads between Cruz and Trump supporters.
I try very hard to never personalize politics and keep my debate to the merits but I remember it being very heated in the first few months of the primary. The same thing happened with Romney-Obama.

I remember when legendary Pittsburgh Steeler and native son Lynne Swan ran for governor of PA. He lost badly to Ed Rendell (referred to as the governor of Philadelphia).
