I have had enough experience with “professional, career officers” that I would take the word of half the homeless I see over most cops testimony.
When you overhear them bragging about half truths, it really makes it difficult to trust and respect them.
That is an unfortunate truth. The oath does not mean much to officers that will take expediency as a method of cleaning up the streets. But when they get to court they have an aura of respectability that many jurors will be swayed by. That has always been a problem. If the police witness is not a sworn officer will the jurors look upon that as a defect?
