My brother, who’s 3 1/2 years older, plays the drums.
I started hearing Chicago songs by 1970.
They became my favorite.

I’ve been to a lot of their concerts.
The first one was Chicago/Beach Boys at
Anaheim Stadium in 1975 I think.

David Foster is one of my least favorite people.

On a Chicago documentary, he something along
the lines of that he probably went too far with Chicago.

At least he admits it.

I am a big fan of Terry Kath’s guitar playing. I wish he could have done more but Chicago just wasn’t a guitar band or a band that needed too much of Kath’s bluesy sounding voice. Kath occasionally sang but not that often. It was mostly Lamm and Cetera that provided the Chicago vocal sound. Regardless Kath always seemed happy when he was playing.

I saw the 1969 version of Chicago Transit Authority and was fortunate to lean against the stage just 10-20 feet away from the whole band. Basically they did their 1st album. Of their original material on the 1st album most of that was written by Lamm.

When they did I’m a Man in those days a roadie adjusted something behind Kath’s amp to force it into feedback. I’ve since learned he used things like a Bogen PA head or Knight stereo as a preamp to his fender amps.

I miss Terry Kath. His last words were “Don’t worry, it’s not loaded.”

Such a great song. They still open most shows with this song. They show their Rock, Jazz, and Soul styles with this song in a great live show from the early 70’s.

So different than most concerts now. Just 7 guys on the stage with some amps and their instruments.

My daughter wanted to see Chicago after a band she liked sampled ‘Questions’ on one of their songs a few years ago. It wasn’t the ‘69 version of the band but they were still sounded pretty good.
