One of Pootey-Poot’s mistakes (among many) was to give the US (et Al) a ringside seat for a display of how combat effective (or not) his equipment is, as well as how effective the Ukrainians have been in defeating his hardware.

Putin's an idiot. Seriously though, more likely hubris got to him after two decades of absolute power in Russia.

The next strongman may learn from Putin's mistakes and as a result, Russia is going to be stronger. NATO will have to watch out. The bear may be provoked to try to take the Baltics or another slice of Ukraine again in the future if they feel that NATO will not nuke them for it.

Putin's ambition was to restore the Soviet Union. That led to the delusion that he could.

Ukraine has been pushed into Poland and a de facto recreation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Belarus is ready to join them. This makes Russia weaker, not stronger, and then there is the issue of needing nukes to defend against more Russian revanchism. Now is the time to push the advantage and reduce Russia's military advantage in Ukraine, Georgia, and elsewhere.
