That cop was wrong. People have the right to be left alone, unless they are actually doing something wrong. In this case, the cop was contacting you because of something you MIGHT be doing in the future.
It doesn’t matter if you were tapping a cigarette case or not. You weren’t doing anything wrong. You should have been left alone.
Exactly. I would have pulled over had she wanted to reprimand me for having my hands on a pack she anticipated me lighting up. She couldn’t write me up for smoking since I wasn’t, though, maybe something else.
The issue was the child in the car which carries a 100.00 fine if you’re smoking while driving with a minor.
