When I went to high school, it was a requirement to own a Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary. Charles Dickens used words that he didn’t define. It was up to the student to learn the definitions of those words.
What makes you think that a writer must educate you?

What makes you think that a writer must educate you? Explaining things clearly used to be one of the prime features of journalism, which is meant to convey information quickly; and it's what the article fails to do in spite of adoring its precious new word.
The article is not a novel, which one may read at leisure, dictionary in hand.
