Characters Ian and Susan are from the original, first true episode of the show.

This episode, as far as I’m aware, has not lived through the years and masters and copies have both been degraded and lost. Again, as I understand, this episode has a few successful minutes of restoration.

The original told about the Doctor not as an alien but as a loving grandfather. He taught his grand-daughter about history by pretending the police call box outside was a time machine. Two teachers were sent to investigate her claims that her grandfather was a time-traveller.

Further details are lost and while I am NO Dr Who pro or lover (Which is why I say “as far as I know”) it was designed to be a children’s show teaching about history. Fanciful travels forward in time were to show the effects of the things that we do.

I could be wrong here.. if I am I’m sorry. But the original Dr Who script seemed like a better idea than what we got now. Which is TERRIBLE sci-fi.

I mean seriously Britain can not CAN NOT write or produce sci-fi to save itself. I guess that is what you get when the state owns the media and it’s funding.
