This was an experiment. The song is in Korean but all the translations I've seen were jarring in trying to read words that didn't match the syllables or stress I was hearing. So using the various translations to get a notion of how much leeway was allowed in translating, I tried my hand at subtitling to get something in English which was more consistent with the Korean sounds. Felt like one of those anti-alzheimer's puzzles.

It's been almost a year since I did one of these. I was invited to my first virtual book publishing party and the academic book on fan-made music videos actually had a chapter about the Mary Van Deusen school of video making, which is narrative. Apparently that was the kick needed to go back to work on these.

The song, Love Always Runs Away, is from "Young Lady and Gentleman" which wins my vote for Worst Asian Drama EVER. The song, however, is wonderful.

The drama, "My Love from the Star," is available on viki, but in the top subscription category, which is $10/month. It has a 9.5 out of 10 rating for 21 episodes and stars Kim Soo Hyun as the alien.
