#60 To lock the icons in place you can use either or both:

Iconoid - just right click and manage Desktop Icons> Save or Restore Icon Positions

DesktopOK 9.81 - Open then click on Save or Restore

Thanks. I am using DesktopOK since for a long time Windows OS forget custom icon placement, and resisted moving them where I wanted, taking about 3 tries to do so even though "auto arrange" nor "by grid" is selected, as attempting to do so results in all the icons being selected, so clicking on will launch other. The Alt+Tab toggle also fails to work to go back to the last open window from the Desktop, though it works fine with other windows.

Custom-DT-Icons-W.11 This likely has to do with the new Explorer Patcher that I use to get the old Taskbar back. But I want the latter more than a custom desktop, and which can be accessed as a folder at %UserProfile%\Desktop. Otherwise Windows key and D will show you the desktop. For now I just set the icons to auto arrange and to grid. Maybe a Windows update or one to Explorer Patcher will fix this.
