The veterinary industry didn't like people vaccinating their own animals because it cost them the $30-50 that they charged for a vaccine. Mississippi outlawed OTC sales of the rabies vaccine so now a lot fewer people vaccinate their dogs since it's more expensive and much more difficult to haul large dogs to the vet office.

Ironically, there's a shortage of large animal vets in my area, and I'm reading that we aren't alone. So what does a stockman do when he can't get a vet to come for 2-3 weeks? Just cull the animal?
