I’ve read bits about this not long ago, but no reason given for the reduction in rail services anywhere I can find.
They (noted in a recent posting) were essentially declaring a “force majeur” (sp?) on themselves from some new crew scheduling method they cooked up. Seems like it should be broken up and sold… (not nationalized! God forbid that, it would be freight AMTRAK)
I hear trains going by my rural OK town almost nightly. Those horns can wake the dead, which probably accounts for my crappy morning moods. :-)
Not sure what they’re carrying or where they’re going, but the activity level in this locale hasn’t really changed. If anything, it’s picked up somewhat.
