This article seems to believe we will either be at net zero, or exactly the same as today in 30 years.

That seems unlikely. New technologies are always arriving. Will they get to net zero, no, but I am certain out energy production will be very very different in 30 years than it is now.

Agreed. I believe the global warming stuff is BS, that we should drill baby drill and be energy independent. And I have a large solar system on my house because it's practical where I live -- thanks to the solar and battery technology improving over the past decade.

And fossil fuel technology improves too. Nobody 30 years ago saw fracking very efficiently pulling both oil and natural gas out of grounds that before were thought to be too cost prohibitive to drill for oil.
