I learned to drive on a manual transmission (stick shift), back in the mid-1960s. I love them. Most of my vehicles have been manual trans (though my current Ford pick-up is an automatic).

My first car was a Ford Fairlane with a 3 speed, on the column shifter.
I cut a hole in the floorboard and turned it into an on floor shifter.

How many today could do that!?πŸ˜†

I am the same way. My 04 F-150 is automatic, my GTO is a 4 speed.

I taught myself how to drive one while assigned to the UK in 1986. I loved them, and owned a manual shift Civic...then regretted it when I got stuck in a 65 mile traffic jam in Belgium in 1998.
