Some are already calling it a political ploy in Texas, i.e. Gov. Greg Abbott using the border crisis to boost his political fortunes.
On Wednesday, Gov. Abbott announced this:
WESLACO, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott announced a new plan Wednesday to bus migrants crossing the Texas border and take them all the way to Washington, specifically to the steps of the U.S. Capitol. It was part of a slew of new executive orders the governor issued to address problems at the border.
Of course, there is a political calculation. Isn't the Biden administration using open borders as a political calculation, too? Politics is always political.
In this case, I think that it's more about frustration and a sense that President Biden does not care about the U.S.-Mexico border.
Gov. Abbott, according to this report, continued with this:
The state will provide charter buses to drop off migrants – many released into small Texas communities that officials say are overwhelmed – in Washington, the Republican governor said in a news conference.
"We are sending them to the United States Capitol where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border," Abbott said.
Let's call it Route 42, a one-way ticket from Laredo to D.C.
Yes, it's a drastic move. Rolling Stone has a headline about the most evil governor in America.
According to RAICES Texas, an open-borders NGO, the governor is "trying to Make Texas White Again.”

Texas is becoming Bidens dumping ground. I hope Abbott can turn the tables on the left and make them clean up their own messes.
All hat/no cattle.
“I hope Abbott can turn the tables on the left and make them clean up their own messes.”
Don’t hold your breath. If Abbott had a sincere interest in helping to fix this mess he’s had numerous years to do it as Governor since 2015. When he was AG there may have been cases where he could’ve addressed the issue, too.
The theater he’s involved in now is too little too late, and his heart isn’t in it. I don’t know how tight he is with Chamber Of Commerce, etc., but there’s something going on that’s prevented him from taking care of business.
“All hat/no cattle.”
Hhahahahaha....... Even though I have heard that line before. Perhaps he has some Texas oil wells in his stocks portfolio? To make up for the “no cattle”?
How many years has Abbot had to do something about the Texas border? Now, this stunt?
How many buses are needed to handle even a weeks worth of illegal aliens? Will the buses be purchased or rented? From whom? How many drivers, guards and staff will need to be on each bus for its 2-day trip to take care of the illegal aliens and prevent them from taking over (or leaving) the bus? What will Abbott do when the D.C. Gestapo won’t let the buses unload?
Unless there are detailed answers, it’s just Kabuki theater.
The other day when this story broke someone did a rough estimate regarding the number of buses that may be needed. Based on the expected numbers of invaders something like 300 buses would be needed and of course 3-4 times that number of drivers if the buses are going to operate 24x7.
Of course it is a unlikely scenario that all the invaders will be shipped to WDC. But if a few thousand were to be dropped off in strategic locations (Martha’s Vineyard, Deleware, etc.), the screeching from the idle rich may cause some action to be taken by the Feds.
Personally I think a few hundred snipers along the entire border would be the most effective solution. Seriously, if attempting an illegal entry into the USA could cost one their life, it makes the attempt far less inviting.
He already did some backtracking by saying that they can’t force anyone to get on a bus. So there you have it, that’s his out.
Typical posturing from a Bush League Republican.
