I KNOW of Whom I have believed. More importantly, He knows me, abject sinner that I am, and yet He saved me anyway. What your spirit characterizes as pompous is assurance of salvation. Why? Because the One in Whom I am now cannot lie and I kneel before Him covered in His Promise.
