My Saturday golf group adopted the “unfortunate lay” rule. This allows the golfer to move the ball a club length to improve the lay. The commissioner saw this rule at a course he once played. It comes in handy.

Years past, when with brother-in-law playing with my mother-in-law, we had a Nanny rule. In order to continue reasonable play time, we let Nanny put the ball where she wanted.

That is called cheating. Why don’t you just tee it up in the fairway? Just saying. But have fun.
