The Paradise Syndrome is the saddest episode. I still tear up at the end. That is the one where he married the Indian Princess.

That’s also my fav episode from the original series.

I remember reading Harlan Ellison's preferred script for that episode and it would have been fascinating to see on the screen, but what was aired was quite good too. My favorite episode from the original series has to be "Mirror, Mirror", because an evil Spock with a beard deserves a series all his own.

Bit of trivia - that episode was largly shot in Mayberry (the 40 acre back lot in Culver City). Here's Kirk with "Edith Keeler" (Joan Collins) walking past a familiar business front.

Got that episode on recorder. Always my favorite. I did not know whom Collins was before seeing that episode. Wow!
