I had never heard of The Funk Brothers until I stumbled upon a video of Joan Osborne covering “Heat Wave” and "What Becomes of The Broken Hearted” while being backed up by them. She did a surprisingly good job covering those classics and the musicians were amazing...every bit as good as The Wrecking Crew.
