That’s sort of the way I feel, it’s inevitable that all or most of the 50 states will legalize it.

It makes no sense to keep it illegal at the Federal Level, but 40 or more states have it legal on a state level.

Please oh please push to end welfare too.

I'm all for people inhaling or snorting whatever they want. Just don't make the rest of us pay the bills for other people's stupidity -- be they medical bills or buying groceries or paying the power bills for people too high to work or think straight.

Especially since it is a Schedule 1 drug (with cocaine, of all things, being on Schedule 2) in which you cannot have any business that touches the stuff bank legally, the IRS can disallow ordinary and necessary business expenses (like rent and SG&A expenses); these things encourage people and businesses to stay illegal to avoid taxes, and they make the odds of lots of violence much higher (due to all of the cash involved). It is a really stupid system that we have right now.

Ironically, the only reason that cannabis and hemp were illegal was because DuPont’s lobbyists, with a little help from Hollywood (”Reefer Madness” - truly one of the worst movies ever made), got Congress to pass a law so that DuPont’s new nylon ropes wouldn’t have any competition from hemp. Crony capitalism isn’t a new thing.
