That one is a classic. And it’s often followed by: “You’re not in any trouble, pal. We just want to clear a few things up. Then you’ll be on your way.”
Some poor slob takes those words at face value, and tries to help the cop. Next thing you know, he’s in the back of a police car on the way to the country jail.
