"I am not sure that Ukraine should preserve its sovereignty after our special operation, like many other small states," Russia wants not just to kill Ukrainians, but to deprive us of the state.

This is discussed by ghouls at a meeting in the Federation Council. Andrey Sidorov, dean of the Faculty of world politics at Moscow State University, suggests taking away state sovereignty from Ukraine. In other words, the genocide of Ukrainians is now being prepared at the university level.

Russia is right up there with Ukraine for being the most corrupt country.

Kind of hypocrisy for Americans to call Russia corrupt. They are miles less corrupt then we are.

I am referring, of course, to their governments, not the citizens.

That's a cop-out, the citizens are every bit as responsible for the corruption as the government. Their the ones allowing it, same as we are responsible for the corruption in this country.

As a proportion of the economy Russia is probably more corrupt. That national wealth being held abroad situation the Russians have is absurd.

The US does indeed have a great deal more to steal, or rather to skim off the economy through manipulation of political influence. So there is probably more stolen in the US. But almost certainly not as a % of the economy however measured.

Well, I suppose then you should welcome the next invader that comes along, just so you get your comeuppance. It is only justice.

If they come to eliminate the corruption, hell I'll fight with them.

"Ukraine is one of, if not the, most corrupt country on this planet. If Russia can fix that, I say have at it.

Moscow must be paying you guys too much - you've sold your soul, if you ever had one.

Yeah and who pays you? The CIA?

You’re supporting what George Soros wants. You’re supporting the World Economic Forum. You’re supporting the genocide that has gone on for years against ethnic Russians in Ukraine. You’re supporting the corrupt government that acted as the Biden family piggy bank for the past decade. But somehow, someone ELSE sold their soul? You need to take a good look in a mirror, pal.

“Their the ones allowing it, same as we are responsible for the corruption in this country.”

Okay, I will go easy. Now explain just how I am responsible for the democrats stealing the election?

How are Americans responsible for encouraging the appointment of a particular justice to the Supreme Court who, all through their judicial career, make mostly correct rulings on Constitutional matters, and when they get to the Supreme Court, flip and become the opposite of what they stood for.

For example, I voted for Cassidy for senator due to what he promised. He lied, once he got in he turned Left. Is that voters’ responsibility?

Are Americans responsible for electing leaders who betray them once in office?

The answer to all your questions is the same as this one, YES.

Since you sound like a Calvinist, is God responsible for Adam and Eve betraying Him?

If corruption is a justification for national suicide then there wouldnt be many societies still standing. There will always be a reason to call a country corrupt.

You are correct, I looked it up when this all started. Russia is the #1 most corrupt in Europe. Ukraine is #2.

So it’s another example of significantly bad government vs bad government.

By all accounts the Ukrainian people are good but obviously somewhat easily controlled (Russians as well).

In part its because its a distinct part of the Russian system, very similar to the old Russian aristocracy. Each of the oligarchs gets the equivalent of a fief, some asset, part ownership, claim on a revenue stream, that the state (Putin the autocrat) bestows and protects, in exchange for loyalty. These fiefs generally involve some piece or aspect in an extractive industry.

The US system is not like that, though you get very rich people with vast influence. There is no “center” in the US system. There aren’t fiefs in the US system. The mechanism of the state bestows benefits from, say, regulatory capture, but each tycoon (indulge me in using a distinct term for this purpose), can compete with others on a given part of regulatory capture. And the domination is not of a discrete set of people, but of a much larger class of people, where the connection is shared culture. Where Russia has a few dozen oligarchs, in the US there are a few hundred thousand, and they dominate in a much more collective manner. Its a master class rather than an oligarchy.

The different effects are evident. The Russian oligarchs are individually less rich than the US tycoons, but collectively they control a very much higher proportion of national wealth.

Angelo Codevilla did an excellent job of describing the US system. I refer you to his essays.

I wouldn't be embarrassed for them. I'd despise them.

Or else pity them. Some seem to be quite mentally disturbed.

Russia is corrupt, too, as is the US.

Stolen election by a bought and paid for traitor, anyone?

That doesn't one corrupt state the right to invade another corrupt state and indiscriminantly murder civilians.
