I was on a week-long business trip to NY/NJ several years ago. One evening I walked around Manhattan and found this building. I also found it rather creepy looking so i looked it up and found this. A holdover from the cold war. I read elsewhere or wiki has removed the comment that it was nuclear-hardened. Can't be sure if that comment is true.
