Frankly, I’d just put in a pipe and forget the converter. Screw the State.
The upstream sensor(s) are the ones that feedback to the computer to adjust the fuel injection.
The downstream sensors just make sure the cat(s) are working properly.
If you don’t have state inspection/testing, you can eliminate the cat(s) if you don’t mind the “check engine” light on all the time (P0420 codes).
Note to self. When going into the shop on Monday, look for some scrap tungsten carbide to put something together that shields the CC so that that they can’t cut it....Either that or put a motion detector under the car that sets something off... rattlesnake rattler, stink bomb, 140 dBa etc.
