This is pretty much just a generic obligatory letter signed by multiple legislators to welcome a new President. It’s kind of ridiculous to have this constant obsession over this letter like it is something definitive...not even accurate to call it “Madison Cawthorn’s letter.”

Where personal respect I had for him was lost was his divorce - not because he got divorced in of itself - but the given reason was that he was too busy in Congress and they couldn’t make the marriage work with the career and so they decided to part ways. If that’s the case, he should have declined running for re-election or even resigned early - priorities were not straight...and that is reflected in other behaviors. It is very sad in a personal sense and he is going totally screw up his whole life if he continues to have his priorities in reverse.

I had no idea he was divorced or even married. I don’t care really.

But this letter is not a run of the mill letter.

It was a kneeling down and pledging obeisance.
