NBC reported there’s been a record breaking 238 anti-LGBTQ+ bills filed in 2022 so far. But right now, there’s a bill sitting in the Senate that can block these bills from being passed nationwide.

It’s critical Congress passes The Equality Act to protect and expand the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans. Here’s what Republicans are trying to do:

1. Restrict LGBTQ+ issues in school curriculums,
   
2. Permit religious exemptions to discriminate against LGBTQ people,
   
3. Limit trans people’s ability to play sports,
   
4. Limit trans people’s use of bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity,
   
5. Limit trans people’s ability to receive gender-affirming health care.

< But here’s what the GOP doesn’t want to admit: Nearly 80% of Americans support laws that protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination in jobs, housing and public accommodations. And about 70% of Americans support same‑sex marriage.
