Check for fear-strike syndrome before you hand them the check.
Walk up to it in a friendly way and reach down to pet it.
Then have someone else do the same thing.
If at anytime the dog pulls away and then lunges....walk away.
This is a genetic condition caused by in-breeding with poor stock.
I’ve seen Great Danes, mid-size and small mop dogs with it.
I lost my mixed breed of 8 years in 2019 March. I’m still grieving for her.
In October that year we got a 5 year old rescue and last year we added a 1.5 year old hyperactive rescue.
They don’t quite replace Bruna, but they are companionship.
No other dog can replace your friend of 12 years.
