My father died of Alzheimer’s and couldn’t speak when I visited him. He was a loving father, and the last time I saw him, he gave me a hug and struggled to speak to me, slowly and laboriously saying,”you’re a good dog”.

My mother in law, who was the best mother in law ever, could only squeeze our hands at the end, and look so deeply into our eyes, wanting so much to communicate.
I used to think cancer was the worst. Now I think - it is Alzheimer’s.
