The demands that Justice Thomas recuse himself from a case involving the January 6 incident because of his wife’s activities are silly. Similar demands for recusal of a prominent member of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals because of his wife’s related activities were dismissed out of hand, to the approval of the media, the legal establishment, and academia. Where is NOW on this? The demand to recuse harkens back to the olden days when married women were treated as little more than minor children. They couldn’t own real property, even by inheritance, they couldn’t enter contracts, they couldn’t vote and had to get the husband’s consent for many things. And the husband could be held liable for his wife’s behavior. Yes, i know the answer, NOW is really NOLW (National Organization of Liberal Women.

This new nominee should recuse herself from any case involving men or women because she cannot define them.
