I like both Chris Rock and Will Smith. Each is two standard deviations above the industry average talent. CR made a horrible judgment. Smith should not have smacked him but it was a purely human reaction and it was a slap not a punch.
The entire Oscars schtick involves insulting and humiliating individual members of the audience one after another. It’s wretched. If there is any good that comes out of this going forward, it just may be to tone down some of these non-funny, non-clever personal attacks on audience members.
I see no possibility that this was staged.
If NOT staged, Will Smith has NO CLASS, since he can’t hold his temper til after the show, and then that FOUL LANGUAGE was disgusting....LOW CLASS or NO CLASS!
