Our guys did that in Okinawa. Couldn’t escort them to the back lines and risk getting shot by a sniper. The enemy was crazy.
War is a Crime! There are no “Good Guys” (that only happens when the winners write the history books). Losers always bad. The only good war is the one that never happens. I guess every generation forgets the horror of the last great war—and has to re-learn the lesson. Europe forgot the Napoleonic Wars, and Did WW I, They forgot WWI and had to do WW II. We forgot WW II and had to do Viet Nam. Now we have this bloodbath. Give Peace a chance! Calling Putin a butcher and a madman isn’t helping to bring an end to the conflict. Even the few Ukrainian victories are bad because it makes the war last longer with more deaths.
