From each according to their ability.
No happiness in return.
I’ve had my old iPhone for at least 8 years. I was forced to move to a 4G phone smart phone because my old regular 3G phone was being interfered with by a network booster in the area. The only way I could get rid of the booster icon on my phone, was to go to a 4G smart phone. I bought the cheapest iPhone they had. It’s a piece of shit, and only keep it, just in case I have an emergency when I’m away from home. I only use it for calls and the occasional text message. I don’t use it for anything else. Never even taken a photo on it. I don’t ever plan on buying another one, and sure as hell, would never rent one.
Ends up being from most below their ability...
We will own nothing and they will be happy?
Progs, frantically believing their own propaganda.

Ownership allows for personal responsibility and the building of assets over a life spent being productive. Their concept is an easy sell for those who have very little or are just getting started, but success would require culling the herd of people who still believe in the “antiquated” notion of property rights.
Well, if Klaus Schwab is for it, I'm against it.
But this author isn't making the best case against the WEF if he's trying to equate depreciating consumer items (like phones, home appliances, cars) with appreciating assets that can be acumulated over a life of productive labor. There are a few things like that, real estate being the most important for most people.
But leasing can be a good or a bad deal, depending on the pricing model and the individual. I have a friend who likes to drive a new model car all the time, and leasing makes a lot of sense for him. It's far cheaper for him to lease a new 7 series every few years than buy and sell. I like to keep a car for as long as it can run -- my current ride is a 2004 vintage Chevy Suburban, had it from new. Far cheaper for me to just pay cash and then keep it running.
It's not immediately clear how not having to buy a crummy new iPhone every two years (they never seem to last longer than that) and just leasing the current model sets one on the road to serfdom.
The great reset is not happening. The deepstate desperately wanted it but they are going down hard.
“Hardware as a service”
Sadly, that sounds very consistent with Apple’s philosophy. They want to own and tightly control everything, including users (and before Apple fanboys attack... I’ve owned iPads for 10 years).
I think this is completely different than “software as a service” because the only software you actually own is software you’ve written. Otherwise you license the software...SaaS is just another licensing model. And yes, even if you are running Linux and use only Open Source software, you’re still licensing it. Frankly, I’ve been very happy with my Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions. I’ve done both the perpetual and subscription licensing models and for software that is upgraded regularly, the subscription basis is nice.
Hardware is a separate issue.
Apple is in for major disappointment. Everyone is going to get a Q phone. (QFS). They will be free. Don’t waste time worrying about this stuff.
