Many years ago, I had a friend who raised bull mastiffs.
his dogs were very protective, they never left the house or the grounds of the home.
They would protect the children to death.
Some neighbor got a "pittie". It would come over and try to attack his children, but the mastiff would run it off. At one point, his boy was out, the the bull mastiff(Billy) was in the house and the pit started mauling the boy who was about 10. He got away, got in the door and the dog, again was run off by the mastiff. quite a few stitches later, the boy was fine.
My friend mixed about 2lb of ground beef with plaster of Paris. The pit ate every bit of it and was never seen again.

New one to me. How much PoP to two pounds of hamburger? A friend lost a dog to a serial poisoner and wondering if this wasn’t the mechanism. Not a usual method, so was curious.
