Mob Trial and Execution, an Illinois historical marker near the mob lynching site where the Banditti "prairie pirates", father and son John and William Driscoll of the Driscoll gang, were tried by an illegal Regulator court of 500 concerned citizens for murder and shot to death by a firing squad of 111 men

Thanks. I was unaware of that “incident”.
Note:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-7-77
“3-7-77 was the symbol used by the Montana Vigilantes (Vigilance Committee) in Virginia City, Montana, USA in the 19th century. People who found the numbers ‘3-7-77’ painted on their tent or cabin knew that they had better leave the area or expect to be on the receiving end of vigilantism.
The numbers are used on the shoulder patch of the Montana Highway Patrol, who claim they do not know the original meaning of the symbol....”
I went to Wikipedia and read about the banditti.
Fascinating, since I live in the area, and have never heard about any of this.
Maybe because it was so long ago.
Thanks for posting!
I’ll have to read up on that.
Thanks,
L
