Ain't that the truth. I've spent a lot of time in Thailand, even living there for a couple of years after I retired. Thai's are some of the friendliest, nicest people you would want to meet. It's a damn shame that a lot of people here are showing their ass, and their ignorance because people in other countries happen to have different names. God forbid when some of these clowns figure out that Thailand actually has a completely different alphabet too. Oh the manatee's.
I suspect that a lot of the ridicule was just because the boy was a young movie star/pop culture icon. If it had been someone important politically or from some other ‘respectable’ field, they might have reacted differently.
In fact, they’d be showing off all they know about the history and politics of Thailand :-)
(If you get homesick for the food, this is a great little company: https://importfood.com/ . I’m addicted to the AMAZING ELEPHANT TOM KHA SOUP!)
My son loves Thailand……he had a trip scheduled to go back March 2020….cancelled because of Covid.
.
I loved it there too. Between work, vacations, and then retirement, I’ve probably spent about 3-4yrs in country. But once you get out of the touristy areas, you have to be able to speak/read the language. :-)
Love Thai food. As with any food, it’s best in country. Thailand is one place where you could spend your entire time eating nothing but street food, and have some of the best food of your life.
