Russia has recruited a lot of troops from Syria and other places. We aren’t threatening to bomb them. I agree about the optics though. Escalation should be avoided, but it should be obvious they are acting independently.
These guys are very brave. The probability of their death or injury is definitely high, but they appear to be making a difference.
