After working with my pal the excavator and riding with him in his fully loaded dump truck, I'm an advocate of drivers training including at least half a day in the cab of a loaded semi or dump truck.

Youth especially doesn't understand those rigs simply cannot stop on a dime, like their own vehicles sometimes can.

I wish there was a program to get truck driver trainers into schools to pass along knowledge.

And youth needs to understand their vehicle's capability for acceleration/performance, load restrictions, sight clearance.
