Needle using drug addicts hardest hit.
Once a person crosses that threshold of self injection to get high, it seldom ends any other way except death.
Shooting up is not “recreational” drug use.
“that threshold of self injection to get high, it seldom ends any other way except death”
A little off topic but I saw a documentary recently that stated once a person becomes a methamphetamine addict the average life span is 7 years....and I don’t think they have to shoot it intravenously for that death sentence.
“Shooting up is not “recreational” drug use.” Neither is hardcore meth use-there is a lot of that in this rural area-meth cookers/dealers like rural areas-they can avoid detection out in the woods-most of my comp clients who became addicted bought their meth out here...
My 1st husband always said illicit drug use was a self-cancelling problem since most heavy users didn’t last more than a few years before they died-either OD’d or something caused by it. At the risk of sounding cold-he was absolutely right-some people really don’t want to be saved-so let’s stop enabling them/rewarding destructive behaviors by making it possible for them to off themselves in comfort with free needles, health care, etc-maybe some of them would get serious about rehab if they didn’t have a safety set...
Agreed. It should be treated as a form of self harm. Like someone playing russian roulette.
As close to a suicide attempt as you can get without being called that
If you're shooting up its a pretty good likelihood that you will shoot up anything/everything your dealer sells you.
