Apple products are of a consistently high quality. People who prefer Microsoft or Google or Android only complain about Apple products because they own something else. Or they have never used Apple products. Very few actual Apple users ever complain about Apple products either the quality or the usefulness.
“Or so the Germans would have us believe.”
Apple makes good products. I have owned iPads for the past 10 years and can attest to that. Updates to the iPadOS have absolutely validated that.
But I do not like the Apple ecosystem and wish that, at the time I seriously started with iPads, there was a good alternative. I don’t like the closed nature of the ecosystem.
Two examples:
1) image backups. I have no choice but to back up my image on Apple’s cloud. I have other cloud services that I choose to pay for. But Apple wants to force me to use theirs.
2) I have no choice but to use their curated app store and cannot download the iPadOS version of an APK independently. This includes not only banned apps but geolocked apps.
Bottom-line: I don’t like the arrogant, paternalistic attitude. Previously, this could was warranted (falsely) that is for my safety, but these days it comes down to censorship. And how about apple deciding to scan users’ photos on their devices? (Yes, I know it was for kiddie p**n, but if they’re willing to do that, how long till they scan for “insurrectionist” content if the government wants?)
I am perfectly happy with my OnePlus 8T phone and will probably upgrade to the current version when it comes time to do so. And I have the ability to do what I want.
Finally, and most importantly, I cannot stand the cult-like defense of all things Apple and distain for all things non-Apple that comes out of the mouths of many Apple fanboys.
And this from a satisfied iPad Pro user. One hell of a piece of kit.
I just wish there was a decent alternative so I could give it, and Apple Corporation, the boot.
