The simplest way to speed up your machine is to install an SSD. I have an old 13-year old processor, and it boots up within 30 seconds. Just buy a program to clone your operating system over, like this one:

And purchase an SSD roughly the size of your existing hard drive. Do yourself a favor and keep the original drive as a backup.
