Great that you’re starting your garden. I’m seeing the same thing too with many gardening supplies either very delayed or just not available anymore. I can’t find course grade vermiculite or a many gardening tools anymore.
My dad used to use it in pots for cuttings of azaleas & rhododendron -
mixed with peat moss - back when he propagated them.
What else is it useful for?
