I happen to agree with you and firmly believe it was all done to Save Social Security and Medicare.
The fact that the world seems to be in lockstep tells me we are headed for a new world (welfare state) currency. In order to do this, they need to get rid of what brought down the previous welfare state currencies… “useless eaters”.
