“Will ranked choice voting flip this seat?”
*****************************************
Oh, yuk… I forgot about that “gift” bestowed for Murkowski’s benefit but will pollute other offices as well.
That doesn't go into effect until the August primary and a special election will be held long before that.
Will ranked choice voting flip this seat?
In order for Rank Choice to apply, no candidate would have received 50% of the vote. Not sure if the two non major party candidates have to wherewithal to keep the Republican under 50%.
Democratic
Anchorage Municipality Assembly Member Christopher “Chris” Constant, • FEC H2AK00200
Republican
Nicholas Joseph “Nick” Begich, III, • Grandson of late Member of Congress Nick Begich, • FEC H2AK01083; 31 Dec 21; Tot $303,927; Dsb $76,591
Congressman Nick Begich was a democrat serving in his first term, when “on October 16, 1972, he and House Majority Leader Hale Boggs, of Louisiana,” plane disappeared in Alaska. He was reelected and then declared dead in late December 1972.
He probably is the leader in the race to succeed Don Young.
Shannon Scott Evans, • FEC H2AK01067
Robert “Bob” Lyons
Julio Perez, • FEC H2AK00192
Randy Purham, • FEC H2AK01059; 31 Dec 21; Tot $1,485; Dsb $4,659
Member of Congress Donald E. “Don” Young, • FEC H6AK00045; 31 Dec 21; Tot $570,568; Dsb $188,943
Libertarian
Chris Bye
I could find very little on Chris Bye. Although he does not have a FEC #, he has filed with the commision.
Non Affiliated
Gregg Bowyer Brelsford, • FEC H2AK01075; 31 Dec 21; Tot $26,027; Dsb $19,718

I actually thought Don Young had already announced he would not seek reelection. I must be thinking of another geriatric member.
Electing unpopular democrats IS the purpose of RC voting
